Yoga Bugs is a complete form of exercise
in a safe and non-competitive environment for children aged 2½ to
7. It is a particularly good way for children to exercise on rainy
days
and benefits both their mind through focusing on the breathing and
visualisation techniques and their bodies through the posture work.
Few young children walk to school and they generally
travel by car or public transport.
Yoga Bugs
addresses this by helping
to maintain a child’s natural flexibility, which can
begin to shut down from a surprisingly young age, especially
once they
are drawn more towards television and computer games combined
with more time in the class room as opposed to doing physical
activity. |

Yoga improves self-confidence
through vocalisation techniques and postures that are designed to
release day to day anxieties such as separation issues, bullying,
lethargy and negativity. |

Yoga Bugs Classes
|

Here is an outline of a Yoga Bugs class at the
GO-Yoga Shala :
- The class will last for 45 minutes.

Yoga Bugs teaches Children aged 2½ to
7.
-
During a class,
children are taken through a series of warm up exercises, followed
by an exciting story in which they are taught yoga postures
which represent characters or animals in a story. Fun Yoga games
and songs are often included in the classes as well.

The sessions end with
relaxation, using visualisation techniques and breathing.
-
Classes
are non competitive, they take place during the school day or as
an after school activity.
Yoga Bugs will help to promote
healthy sleeping patterns and allows children to explore their
intuitive nature and spirituality.
During the class the children
will be taught breathing exercises which will improve concentration
and energy levels, relaxation techniques to clear the mind,
allowing for better memory retention and postures that help
recharge a weak immune system and strengthen the core stabilising
muscles of the abdomen and back. Posture work helps to tone
the body and reduce the rising levels of childhood obesity. |

Yoga Bugs classes will develop
creativity and self-expression, calm symptoms of anxiety and nervousness
prior to school tests or school performances and improve co-ordination
and balance.
