SMITA : PROFILE
ANTE NATAL & MUMMY & ME TEACHER AT GO-Yoga!
Smita has been studying and practising yoga for nearly 17 years
and continues to do so on a daily basis. Her self practice (and
consequent classes) focus on breathing and movement, incorporating
pranayama, meditation and relaxation.
With 7 years of teaching experience Smita teaches a variety of
yoga classes including hatha, dynamic, pregnancy, baby yoga, toddler
yoga and children’s yoga. Smita teaches yoga as a full time
profession and apart from her time at GO-Yoga is currently teaching
at a variety of gyms and yoga studios in London.
Smita began her study of yoga at the Sivananda Yoga Ashram, Kerala
in India. She qualified in 2001 and began her teaching career shortly
after. She has since furthered her experience in yoga instruction
having received a nationally recognised qualification in Antenatal
Yoga, Baby Yoga and Toddler Yoga through Birthlight receiving her
certification in March of 2006. She also studied and trained in
Yoga for Labour and Childbirth and with an intense caring for mums-to-be
specialises in this form today. Additionally, Smita attended intensive
teacher training through the Life Centre and Special Yoga School,
in Yoga Therapy and Children’s Yoga and continues her studies
with children.
Combining these qualifications with her beautiful nature and gentle
demeanour allows Smita to share with her students in a knowledgeable,
understanding and sympathetic manner, necessary for supporting ladies
in one of the most important times of their life (during pregnancy)
and aiding them back to a position of strength and confidence after
birth.
Smita has a passion for yoga which began as a child; she is continuingly
learning and loves teaching and bringing yoga to others.
